Our Funders

Marwyn Investments
Marwyn are our major donors for the Full Scholarships but their involvement with Sumbandila is far deeper and more important than just providing funds. They are partners who continually give of their time and expertise and Sumbandila owes its growth and success largely to this extraordinary group of people. During 2008 Marwyn hosted a launch at the Ivy Restaurant in London which brought us much support and they also hosted a fund-raising football tournament for Sumbandila in November which was an enormous success.

Corporate donors who supported us through the Marwyn link were LEK Consulting, Entertainment One, Bourner Bullock, Concateno, Co-Investment Capital, Silverdell, Barclays Corporate Banking, Jones Day, Investec, Wavex, Mazars, Travers Smith, Mayer Brown International, Singer, Ernst & Young, J P Morgan Cazenove, Edison Investment Research, Edge Architecture and Design, Deloitte, DLA Piper, Evolution, Oliver and Ohlbaum, KPMG, GTUK, Arbuthnot Securities, Finncap, Cenkos, Numis and Ruffer.

The D.G. Murray Trust
The D.G. Murray Trust are our major donors for the Sumbandila Outreach Programme and their generous funding is used to cover transport, teacher remuneration, materials, meals, trips and to purchase materials for the mentorship and entrepreneurial skills programmes.

Ir Felix August Schippers Stichting
Contacts established through Ridgeway College and the Louis Trichardt Rotary Club with the Trust’s representative, Mr Bart Fuijkschot resulted in generous support for one 2008 Full Scholarship student for five years.

The Study Trust
Our partners the Study Trust, have, through its Director, Murray Hofmeyr, offered us far more than financial support. They were instrumental in our successful approach to the D.G. Murray Trust and provided much valuable help and information on the technical and legal aspects of setting up our own Trust. They cover school fees and the daily transport costs to and from their schools of the Second Phase students.

Ridgeway College
Our partners Ridgeway College have been instrumental in the establishment of the Sumbandila Scholarship Trust, offering us a base, the use of their facilities, staff time and expertise as well as discounted fees for the Sumbandila Full scholars.

Individual donors
Sumbandila is extremely grateful to Harry and Heather Mithen, Peter and Renate Heikamp, Rex and Rosemary Bloor and Yngvil Foss, Themba Linden and Lorraine Cripwel for their extremely generous donations.
