OUR MODEL

Sumbandila is currently focused in the Vhembe district in Limpopo, one of the poorest provinces of South Africa. Since 2008, we have supported 471 children and their families through academic mentorship, either via full academic scholarships at Ridgeway College or through weekend and holiday enrichment programmes hosted at the college. We guide students from both programmes to access university or other tertiary institutions, and once there, they are supported financially, academically, and psychosocially—through partnerships with universities, the Government’s NSFAS scheme, and other bursary organisations. As of March 2025, we have 147 students currently enrolled in university and 177 who have graduated, including 63 who have completed postgraduate studies. Additionally, 111 students are currently part of our high school programme, and we continue to assist our alumni, where necessary, as they transition into the workplace.
